In just four short years, HTL has changed the culture of innovation at MassGeneral, engaged frontline healthcare providers in multiple departments and centers, solved patient care challenges through the introduction of mobile applications and process changes, successfully piloted technologies that have now scaled across the hospital and broader Partners Healthcare network, and connected MassGeneral innovators to the local and national digital health industry and start-up community.
Yet perhaps what the HTL team is most proud of, is the impact we’ve had on the careers of clinician-innovators, whether still in training or as members of the junior faculty. Some such innovators have been winners of our Ether Dome Challenge, working on projects they’d proposed to their department heads. Others have chosen to spend elective time at HTL, learning more broadly about the innovation ecosystem. And finally, four physicians have committed a year of their time as innovation research fellows, gaining hands-on experience guiding their projects from ideation, to iteration, and then, finally, to implementation.
In the pages that follow we’ll share with you the stories of a few of these clinicians, describing both their work and the impact HTL has had on their careers. This year’s Impact Report is all about capturing the dynamic quality that permeates our team and our work. We rely on friends like you, who share our vision and hope that you’ll enjoy reading the following highlights of HTL’s activities from the past four years.
